Dr. V's Campaign for a new you in the new year

Get Smart!     Get Fit!    Get Right!

Week Two:

Get Smart about Nutrition:

Hopefully last week you were able to start a food journal. Don't be too hard on yourself if you didn't make any drastic changes, in your food choices. The goal this week is to implement last week's tips. Think about what you eat, include more fruits and vegetables in your diet, and keep up your food journaling. This week we will learn how to read food labels, learn about portion control, and trim fat and salt in our diet.

Hang in there.. say NO to those poptarts .. It's worth it!!

Get Fit:

Did you download the workouts last week, and reference the videos to ensure your proper form in performing the exercises? Our goal this week is to continue working out three times a week. Whether your goal is to get fit for summertime or to improve your general health, exercise and strength training is integral to getting you results.

Get Right:

Our show this week focuses on the third component of the program Gettin right!

In keeping with our campaign, A New You in the New Year we are talking about self love and self confidence this week. What is self confidence? What does self-confidence mean to you? It is the ability to have a positive view of yourself and your situations. It is an inherent quality in all of us; it just needs to be developed and brought out in some of us!

We are judged by others every day whether it's at work, at home, or in the streets by people we don't know, but we cannot allow other's opinions to affect and define our self worth. It is normal that we all cycle between positive and negative energy states during the week. But you should spend more time being positive and feeling confident. If this is not the case don't worry self-confidence is something you can build and develop.

The Program:

A New You in the New Year! What was your New Year's resolution in 2007? Was it to improve your overall health, to get fit or to change your mindset? Do you even remember? Year after year we all make resolutions - a few are completed successfully by year's end, but most fall by the wayside.

In 2008, Dr. V. wants to help you set achievable, healthy resolutions for your mind, body and soul and to be successful in conquering them all! Healthy living isn't easy; there are many factors that make it difficult - stress, lack of free time, illness and more.

To simplify it all, Dr. V has designed a one-month program that targets improving your fitness, nutrition and mental health - in just 30 days! That leaves you with 11 more months to enjoy and maintain "A New You in the New Year"!

Maybe you want to lose weight for an upcoming class reunion, or tone up for a friend's destination wedding. Perhaps it's finally time to bring your blood pressure back to normal or change the eating habits of your loved ones.

Maybe the positive attitude your friends say you're lacking is long overdue, or recent love or work issues are getting the best of you. Instead of creating short-lived, temporary fixes, how about making a LIFESTYLE CHANGE??? That's exactly what Dr.V's campaign for A New You in the New Year is all about!

Dr. V. has enlisted top professionals in the fields of nutrition and fitness to help devise a comprehensive plan to help you Get Smart, Get Fit and Get Right.
